Rain Gardens

Rain garden
Several rain gardens have been set up in the region. In addition to capturing and filtering rainwater, these gardens serve as demonstration projects to encourage people to build them in their own yards.

Certain issues, such as rainwater runoff, have a negative impact on water quality. As this water runs off the surface, it can carry numerous contaminants into waterways.

To encourage the infiltration of water as it occurs in nature, Vision H2O implements measures to reduce runoff, including rain gardens.

Rain gardens are natural infrastructures that absorb excess water from impervious surfaces such as compacted lawns and parking lots. This reduces the amount of contaminants entering storm drains and streams, rivers and eventually the sea.
